BCN Society Explorer Cruise 2018

A gentle, fun cruise, exploring the northern reaches of the Birmingham Canal Navigation system with fellow boaters.

Visit CRT lock gate manufacturing workshops at Bradley, (and also see where full length boats could be turned over to work on the under side).

Learn about the fascinating history of the BCN from an entertaining local historian.

The cruise starts in Wolverhampton.

It starts on Friday 18 May and finishes at the Pumphouse Rally.  The details of the trip are here.

Book soon – the cruise is filling up quickly, there are very few spaces left.

    • Have even better than a vague idea – the dates are 18 to 25 May, (starting in Wolverhampton, finishing at the Pumphouse Rally at Titford) and 15 to 23rd June.

The dates are now on the website.

I hope to see you there.

  1. Hi Stuart

I would please like to book a place on your 2018 BCN Explorer Cruise commencing Friday 18th May. We haven’t done that part of the BCN before but have passed along both the New and Old Main lines into and out of Birmingham via the Wolverhampton flight from our moorings in Nantwich.
There will be my wife and I aboard our 52ft boat for the duration of the event.

    Many thanks in anticipation

    • Hi Jim
As you should have already found out, I have forwarded your request to Stuart.
With a bit of luck, you should have been able to email Stuart directly from the link above – if there were problems with that on the website, could you come back to me and let me know.

  2. Regrettably we are only able to run one explorer cruise this year – in May.
As I write this, there are very few spaces left. If you want to join in, get fell in sharpish

  3. And Tremendous fun it was too! Many thanks to the various members of BCNS for organising beforehand , to Brenda and Brian for leading it, to the barbecuers, speakers and guides at the various en-route activities and to all those who put together the welcome in the pumphouse at the end. Thanks also to Burger Van (MkII) for some fine fries on the Friday night.

The journey was not, of course, without incident entirely but everyone helped , even the weather gods.

If you get the chance in 2019 we would heartily recommend you go along.

    Nigel and Rosemary

    • Have heard it was great. Planning to do it 2019. Will wait for the dates to appear and plan accordingly.
