SUMMARY:BCN Society / Fund Britain's Waterways Joint Icicle Cruise to Walsall
DESCRIPTION:The BCN Society have teamed up with the Funds Britain’s Waterway Campaign to jointly organise an Icicle Cruise to Walsall Town Arm over the weekend of the 20th/21st March 2026.\n\nThe cruise will follow a similar format to previous years and will allow us to belatedly celebrate the re-opening of the canal after the spill incident\, and sample the new arrangements that CRT have put in place at Walsall Basin.\n\nThere is an informal plan to descend Ryders Green Locks on Friday\, mooring overnight at Moorcroft Junction and then cruising to Walsall on the Saturday. A BCNS work party will attend to the moorings at Moorcroft in advance to ensure they are tidy and clear of the worst vegetation etc.\n\n\nI very much hope we can assemble an impressive number of boats for this event and look forward to receiving your support. \nIcicle cruise 2026 entry form \nCaggy\, Bogwoppit in Town Basin

SUMMARY:Birmingham Canals Clean-up 13-15th March 2026
DESCRIPTION:Birmingham Canals Clean-up 2026\n\n\n\n\nBook Now\n\n\n\n\nEver wondered what treasures lie at the bottom of the Birmingham Canals? \nEvery year\, about 50 volunteers spend two days removing an estimated 20 to 30 tonnes of rubbish from the Birmingham Canal Navigations (BCN). The Annual Birmingham Canals Clean-up weekend is the perfect chance to have fun\, meet new people\, and help clear shopping trolleys\, tyres\, bicycles – and perhaps even more surprising finds – from the canals. This yearly effort on the BCN helps keep the less-used sections of the BCN & Black Country Network clear\, preventing them from becoming clogged with rubbish and impassable for boats. \nThis year\, Waterway Recovery Group (WRG) volunteers will be working on the Daw End Canal\, tackling grappling tasks and offside vegetation clearance. Volunteers are joined each year by members of IWA West Midlands branches\, Canal & River Trust\, Birmingham Canal Navigations Society\, and Coombeswood Canal Trust. \nGuidance for Day Visitors\nIf you’d like to join for the day\, please email Chris Morgan or call 07974 111 354 to confirm the meet-up point and time. \nBookings for the weekend are now open \nBasic accommodation is provided from Friday night – Please bring camp beds/sleeping bags. \n** Accommodation bookings close at midday on Friday 6th March ** \n
