3.4 The Anson Branch

Built as an industrial canal of the Walsall Canal, the Anson Branch served a wide range of Black Country industries. Even after the end of commercial navaigation, when the newly built M6 motorway made it impassable, the Anson Branch served as a water feeder to a huge coal power station. The power station has gone as well, but canal hunter Andy Tidy finds lots of remains of the branch, including the basins at the end.

Of course, the Anson Branch was the only link to the Bentley Canal, covered in Canal Hunter video 3.2 and 3.3.
